What does this tool do?

This converter extracts the audio track from video files entirely in your browser. You receive a separate audio file without video — ideal for extracting recordings, podcasts, lecture content, or music tracks from video files.

Which output format should you choose?

MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer III) is the most universal format and works on virtually every device. It compresses the recording with a small quality trade-off. Great for podcasts, audiobooks, and interviews.

WAV (Waveform Audio File Format) stores audio data uncompressed — quality exactly matches the original audio track. File sizes are significantly larger than MP3. Useful when you want to edit the file further or load it into a DAW.

AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) / M4A delivers slightly better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate. Widely used in Apple ecosystems and works on Android and Windows too.

OGG (Vorbis) is an open format with good quality, especially suited for web applications that cannot pay MP3 licensing fees.

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is lossless and compressed — smaller than WAV but without quality loss. The ideal compromise for archiving purposes.

Which video formats are supported?

What is the difference between MP3 and WAV?

What happens with very large video files?

Files over 500 MB trigger a warning because large files require significant memory. Files over 2 GB are rejected to prevent browser crashes.

Is the audio quality preserved?

Yes — when you choose WAV or FLAC the audio track is extracted losslessly. For MP3, Opus or OGG a lossy re-encode occurs. AAC/M4A is encoded at 192 kbps, which is sufficient for both speech and music.
